Marilyn Monroe Is Trending Again—Here Are 4 Outfits That Still Look Fresh Today

It's been six decades since Marilyn Monroe last graced the silver screen, but her legacy is still felt today. This past year has been particularly dedicated to the icon, with Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn's exact dress to the Met Gala, and the much-anticipated biographical film Blonde premiering at the Venice Film Festival recently. The film, that is based upon bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, will be released on the 28th of September on Netflix and explores the split between Marilyn's public and private lives. After Blonde received a 14-minute long standing ovation in Venice, it was clear that Marilyn would once again be trending, and while looking through some of her best outfits, I found that these four still feel fresh today.

Throughout her career, Marilyn became an icon of beauty, sensuality and style. As we look back at Marilyn's fashion moments most will think of that moment with that white dress, but while searching through the archives, I found so many Marilyn looks that could be seen on the fashion set today. Along with many glamorous looks, of course, she has plenty of inspirational outfits that can be re-created for today.

The eternal influence of Marilyn Monroe has been rehashed over the years, from Andy Warhol's artwork to Versace's Marilyn printed dresses in the 90s, and the current film, Blonde, will definitely inspire another wave of Marilyn appreciation.

Marilyn's off-duty looks resonate with the styles we live in today. A classic pairing of a white shirt and high-waisted jeans retains its relevance no matter the year, and the cowboy boots finishing makes this feel even more modern.

2. Polka Dots

This may not be the newest of patterns, but the carefully crafted silhouette gives it a modern feel. This halterneck and ruched front style could be seen on any fashionable person now.

3. LITTLE BLACK DRESS

If you know us, you know that we love dresses, and this year we've become particularly infatuated with white dresses. Even though summer days have come to an end, there's plenty of ways to style a white dress for autumn. Add a blazer and boots or layer a chunky cardigan on top.
