Jamie Bochert: 5 Things You Didn't Know About The It-Model
We have decidedly moved out of the era of the supermodel—à la Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and the like—and into the age of the It-model. The hallmarks of It-model status are as follows: appearing in more than five major fashion campaigns in a single season, walking in every show, and (eventually) getting her own deals and contracts outside of modelling. The latest model to keep an eye on: Jamie Bochert. While the 30-something, New Jersey-born beauty with impossibly high cheekbones has been around for quite some time now, she’s landed the lead in campaigns by two of the most influential brands in the business: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were taken enough with her to cast her as the only model in their Resort 2015 lookbook for The Row, and Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci also put her in a starring role for his F/W 14 campaign alongside Kendall Jenner.
Scroll down for five fun facts you didn’t know about Jamie, and keep an eye out for her in the future—we think she could just be the next Cara.

In addition to her job modelling for huge designer brands like The Row, Givenchy, and Chanel, Bochert is a singer and musician. She fronts a band called Frances Wolf, and at one point managed to land a gig playing backup for Patti Smith in Paris.
In 2013, rumours swirled that Boardwalk Empire actor Michael Pitt was secretly dating Twilight star Kristen Stewart on the side—but Pitt and Bochert, having been together for more than 10 years now, seem to still be going strong. Depending on who you ask, they are either married, still engaged, or only dating—there’s no current confirmation of their actual status, but they seem to be a pair.

No matter that she’s been cast in campaigns for everyone from Marc Jacobs to Lanvin—Bochert seems to have a rather strong distaste for the modelling industry. "She pays her bills doing print work, as a model, and, you know, she’s lucky to be able to do that—even though she hates the business, we both hate it," Pitt told The Observer in 2009.
Bochert once told The New York Times that she gets ready for Fashion Week by eating. “I eat as much as I can, sleep as much as I can, Pilates two to three times a week,” she said.
There’s a reason Bochert is known for capturing gorgeous action shots: she trained as a ballerina for much of her childhood. “I was a dancer my whole life,” Bochert once told Interview magazine. “That was a constant focus. Dancing kept me very busy and out of a lot of trouble when I was young. I started modelling after that, and then I picked up a guitar and went with that.”
