I Just Tried on All of the Most Talked-About Jeans on the High Street

Let's face it, shopping for a new pair of jeans can be daunting, which is why we are declaring this week Denim Week on Who What Wear UK. For the next seven days, we will be equipping you with all the info you could possibly need so you will be excited to start your hunt for your next pair (or pairs) of jeans.

One of my worst ways to spend a Saturday morning would have to be trying on 30 or so pairs of jeans on Oxford Street, hopping from starkly lit changing room to starkly lit changing room. However in the name of Who What Wear UK's Denim Week, I did just that and tried on a selection of the new and best-selling jeans on the high street right now. Our We Try Before You Buy series aims to take the stress out of shopping, and searching for jeans is probably the thing that causes most people to have a toddler-style tantrum in a changing room. Keep scrolling to see the under-£100 jeans I was most impressed with during my high-street denim recce.

Topshop

The flared Jamie jeans are one of Topshop's new styles this season. They have all of the leg-lengthening qualities of a flare but aren't too wide, so they aren't as "retro" or intimidating as other styles. I think these are set to be one of Topshop's new hero jeans.

H&M

It's not often that you find £25 jeans that actually feel and look good, and so these H&M jeans are a find. The silver button front makes these a little more interesting than plain straight-leg black jeans, and I was surprised by how happy I was with the fit.

Arket

When it comes to white jeans, Arket is the leader on the high street. The fitted jeans (which are a cropped straight-cut style) are the most popular, and the off-white shade is the best-selling of all the colours—the shop assistant tells me that this is because it's surprisingly hard to find white jeans that aren't in a glaringly bright white. As for fit, Arket's denim offering is perfect for tall women, and all the jeans have a masculine cut, meaning they aren't the best for petites or those of us with larger bums.

When it comes to simple everyday jeans, & Other Stories is a real crowd-pleaser. These super-slim jeans are the perfect length to wear with ankle boots and have flattering pockets that lift the bum.

These Mango trumpet jeans are an influencer favourite, and I can see why, as the super-stretchy fabric makes these one of the comfiest pairs I found on the high street.

Warehouse

Warehouse isn't particularly known for its denim, and while it isn't a go-to for edgy cuts or playful detailing, the classic skinny jeans are one of the best I've tried, and they come in every wash you could hope for.

Your next jean-shopping trip is going to be so much easier.
