Why You Should Tuck In Your Hair This Spring, Not Your Shirt
Pinning down the original source of a fashion trend is just as difficult as resisting a Manolo Blahnik sample sale (ce n’est pas possible!). When it comes to the hair tuck, we’ve pressed rewind as far back as March 2011 when Pheobe Philo took at bow at the end of her Céline A/W 12 collection (a stone age ago, in the clothing industry) with her hair neatly stowed beneath her turtleneck.
Like most things Philo touches, it elicits a following sooner or later. As the rest of the fash crowd continued to shake its glossy locks at cameras en route to another show space, a cool few dabbled with this style twist. Until now. To nonchalantly tuck your hair down a turtleneck or elegantly fold it under your trusty tweed blazer has become the microtrend du jour.
The way to style your winter knits, coats, leathers, and cashmere is simply thus: Twist your hair into a ponytail shape (No hair ties necessary), then place it under your garms. Let the ponytail unravel of its own accord. Pull out a few front strands and gently lift the body of your hair an inch or so to get some bounce. Et voila! If in doubt, then Man Repeller has done an awesome gif that pretty much sums it up in seconds. Go one step further and place your locks underneath a skinny scarf or choker to reach new levels of fashion forward.
