How One Girl Cleaned Out Over 100 Items From Her Closet

Elyssa Goodman

Brittany Witkin is a stylist and closet-organisation guru, but she realised recently that her own closet wasn't making the grade. In an article on PopSugar, she wrote about the process, in which she found herself removing more than 100 items from her wardrobe by asking herself a simple question: Does it serve you?

As Brittany writes, this question is broken down into two parts. First, do you feel good while wearing this item? Are you also excited to wear it? If you're having a so-so reaction to this question, it's time to dump that item. (Or, better yet, donate it!)

And second, do you really wear the item in question and can you remember the last time you wore it? If you can't remember, it's also time to get rid of it.

Brittany writes that if you really can't see yourself parting with a particular item, you can put a hang tag on it and hang the item on the front of your closet, reminding yourself to wear it within four weeks. If you don't wear it then, it's time to let go.
