The Shoe Every Style-Conscious Girl Will Wear Next Year

Flatform sandals are some of the most divisive shoes out there, along with Ugg boots, Crocs and cowboy boots, but like it or not, they are poised to be the stand-out shoe for spring/summer 2017

The likes of Gucci, Prada and Stella McCartney are championing clompy sandals with a Scary Spice–esque sole, and come March we can expect this to be a key style at the likes of Zara and Topshop. Sandals with a three-inch or greater lift might sound like a, well, scary prospect, but trust us, this isn't a trend to immediately dismiss. Fashion week's most stylish faces, including Natasha Goldenberg and Leandra Medine, have already been wearing theirs, selling them to us as a trend to embrace.

Of course there is one major advantage to a flatform sandal—they can add a couple of inches to your height without sacrificing the comfort of your favourite everyday flat sandals. As for the look to go for, if you are a maximalist, you'll be drawn to the rainbow brights and striped soles seen at Gucci and Miu Miu. But if your vibe is more Kingsland Road, opt for a chunky white or black sandal with a matching sheer sock worn underneath, as seen at Preen.
