Elsa Hosk Just Mastered the Perfect Transitional Outfit

We can always rely on an off-duty model to show us how it’s done. And we’ve never needed more help in the wardrobe department than right now. Getting out of the house in the morning has turned into a troubleshooting session so long it’s like filling out a health questionnaire. Is it raining? Is it cold? Too hot for cashmere? Should I wear tights? Will it be too mild for a winter coat by 3 p.m.?

Transitional dressing is without a doubt, the most head-scratching conundrum of all. Elsa Hosk to the rescue. The Swedish Victoria’s Secret model showed us how it’s done as she took to the streets of an autumnal Manhattan yesterday.

Modelling a shacket (that clever shirt/jacket hybrid) in a subdued camo print rather than a woolly coat, she wore it buttoned up over a body-conscious fine-rib knit for warmth. Note: Rolling the sleeves on your jacket will make you look like a layering pro.

On her bottom half, she wore slim jeans cropped high enough to flash a bit of ankle—let’s keep away from those opaque tights as long as we can. And to add a ladylike touch to this otherwise urban outfit, she added those Chanel slingbacks and a quilted handbag, not dangling from the shoulder, but artfully worn across her body.

Ladies, this is how you nail transitional dressing. Ignore tights and look to natty layering for as long as temperatures allow.
