The Surprising Way Cara Delevingne Stands Up for Feminism

Meghan Blalock

As per usual, Cara Delevingne seems to be everywhere these days. The It model's first acting gig is on the horizon, she walked in basically every show from London to Paris, and now: She's become a rather outspoken voice for feminism.

In a new interview with Time Out LondonDelevingne reveals that she's had to seriously fight for powerful female roles in her new undertaking as an actor. (H/t to Vogue for finding this story first!)

"I speak up and say 'Girls don't do that,' or 'That's not something a girl would say in that situation,'" Delevingne reveals. "Instead, it’s about how men perceive women and it’s not accurate, and it annoys me! I don’t think people speak up enough. It’s important that when girls watch movies they’ve got strong female role models."

She continues: "Even if I'm wrong, even if I get shut down, I know that I've done my part to get a woman's voice out there."

Go Cara, go! It's refreshing that a woman in a successful a position as hers isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in, and that she tries to make an impact beyond her own career. What do you think of Cara's fight for feminism? Sound off in the comments below!
