Blake Lively's New Layering Idea Will See You Through Spring

Blake Lively is known for her polished all-American style, and at New York Fashion Week yesterday, she proved that one of spring's trickiest trends—mix-and-match—can look just as classic and elegant as eccentric. At Marchesa, she wore three printed pieces you would never normally wear together: two coats at once in contrasting monochrome prints and textures.

She wore a checked overcoat with a fur collar artfully slung over a chevron-stripe mohair coat. She then added another print into the mix, pairing this with a polka dot printed fluted skirt. These are prints that shouldn't work together, but Blake makes this unlikely mix look elegant by sticking to a strict colour scheme. Even her crop top and Christian Louboutin stilettos fit into the black-and-white theme.
