16 Facts About Marc Jacobs That Will BLOW. YOUR. MIND.
Though he hardly looks it, Marc Jacobs turns 51 today. To celebrate, we’ve gone beyond the kilts and indie actress besties and delved into Jeopardy! question territory with some little known facts about the pint-sized, muscle-bound designer. Prepare to be bemused.
He made his acting debut last year playing online porn hustler in the edgy thriller, Disconnect. However, don’t expect Jacobs to add “movie star” to his resume any time soon. “I didn’t enjoy the actual tedious acting experience,” he told the press. “You stand around and wait and eat a lot of junk food— coffee and doughnuts. So those are not things that are good for me.”
He has a cameo in the Sonic Youth hit single “Sugar Kane” alongside Chloe Sevigny (then an intern at Sassy magazine). Watch it here and dream of the ‘90s.
His 2007 F/W show started over two hours late because he was finishing up the collection. At the time, critic Suzy Menkes seethed, “I would like to murder him with my bare hands and never see another Marc Jacobs show as long as I live.” (The pair have since made up).
In 2011, he was spoofed on South Park as a doll named “Muscle Man Marc.” Jacobs, however, hardly took offence. "Being on South Park was the high point of my life so far," he later told the press.
